What a amazing place to decorate an open marquee for a very special ladies’ ninetieth birthday lunch. So many beautiful flowers are grown in Kenya including, my favourite, Roses, the Old English scented varieties. We used them for the base of all the arrangements in large old copper arabic jars and best of all an antique spittoon (well rinsed before use!).
The pinks, peaches and creams looked beautiful against the deep greens of the foliage picked from the garden. Armfuls of pink and orange bougainvillea, Jacarandas and long strands of jasmine in full flower gave off the most wonderful perfume in the warmth. The Sykes' monkeys with their very long tails were leaping around under the umbrella of trees wondering who was the stranger raiding their garden.
